Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Indiana Custodial Rights Advocates to provide children with the opportunity to have access to both parents through educational outreach and promoting policies and laws that will make Indiana a more child-friendly state.

We seek to encourage all parents to understand the need for and to make their children their greatest priority. Likewise, we seek to encourage stake holders and policy makers to consider the needs of children first when making decisions that affect the lives of children.

Action Plan

We take a three prong approach to our mission. Through educational outreach efforts we seek to provide parents with the knowledge and tools necessary to provide maximum opportunities for them to interact with their children and provide them with the care, companionship and support that they need. We outreach to parents involved in custody battles by providing educational support stressing the importance of reducing conflict in custody cases.

Judicial officers are provided with resource materials about the need for children to have two parents in their lives. Strategies, trends in family law and research findings are presented to judges to ensure that they have all the tools and knowledge to make decisions that provide the greatest benefit to children.

We also seek to affect Indiana’s child custody policies and laws. Affected parents comprise our team of citizen lobbyists who are directly involved in the policy or law-making process. We attend the meetings of and advise the committees writing the rules of court which dictate the actions of judges. While the Indiana Generally Assembly is in session we have members available at the Indiana State House to provide support, resources and opinion to lawmakers through public testimony or private meetings.

Judicial and legislative policy-makers receive educational support on issues related to child custody including divorce, paternity, CPS and education. In addition we write custody related bills that are introduced to the Indiana Generally Assembly.
